Overview

Situated around a series of deepwater pools, Al Kharj is the largest source of agricultural products in the country. This east-central Saudi Arabian city is known for its bountiful produce including cereals, dates, vegetables, and fruits. But aside from being a flourishing agricultural oasis, the city also has a rich culture and heritage waiting to be discovered by visitors.

From Riyadh, head southeast to Al Kharj, and along the way, visit the Cumulus Stone Tombs that dates back to 4000 BC and the Al Kharj spring water. Stop at King Abdulaziz Palace, an ancient Islamic architectural style center built in 1937 where the King used to rest in between trips from Riyadh to Makkah or during summer vacation.

Upon arrival in Al Kharj, explore the Al Musaa Private Heritage Museum. This museum consists of seven halls and contains several interesting archaeological and heritage artifacts. Here, you'll find ancient copper utensils, coffee grinding machines, old electronic devices, and other items that display everything related to national heritage.

After your museum visit, you'll stop for some delicious local lunch and head back to Riyadh in the early afternoon.
